Greta Gerwig's film Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, continues to impress the audience with its fantasy-comedy genre. The film, which released on July 21, has been doing exceptionally well at the box office, both in India and abroad. According to reports, the film has collected around Rs 28 crore in India till Tuesday, July 27. It is expected to cross the Rs 30 crore mark by Wednesday.

Barbie is based on the popular doll franchise by Mattel and follows the adventures of Barbie (Robbie) and Ken (Gosling) as they discover the joys and perils of living in a human world. The film has a huge ensemble cast that includes America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Will Ferrell, Ana Cruz Kayne, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, Jamie Demetriou, Connor Swindells, Sharon Rooney, Nicola Coughlan, Ritu Arya, Dua Lipa, and Helen Mirren.

The film has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its witty script, charming performances and colorful visuals. The film has also been praised for its feminist message and subversion of stereotypes.

Barbie has also been a huge hit at the international box office, where it has collected $337 million (Rs 276.39 crore) worldwide till Monday, July 24. It is the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman. The film faced stiff competition from Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which also released on July 21. However, Barbie managed to beat Oppenheimer in most of the markets and emerged as the clear winner of the weekend.

The top international markets for Barbie are the United Kingdom ($22.9 million), Mexico ($22.3 million), Brazil ($15.9 million), Australia ($14.6 million), Spain ($9.9 million), France ($9.8 million) and China ($8.2 million). The film is yet to release in Japan and South Korea.

Barbie is expected to maintain its strong hold at the box office in the coming days and weeks as it has no major competition until August 11, when Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits the theatres. However, in India, the film will now face a tough competition by Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which released in cinema halls today.
