Mohanlal’s directorial debut Barroz has been generating significant buzz ever since its announcement. The movie might be a children’s fantasy film, but recent footage shared online by its action director Jay Jay Jakrit also promise some thrilling action scenes.

The stunt director, who had previously worked in Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, has shared the video on his social media, saying that this is a pre-visualization done for Barroz but didn’t make the final cut.

It offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the action choreography and impressive display of martial arts that will be shown in the film. The shooting of Barroz had concluded in July and according to reports, the post production works are currently underway. The film’s wrap-up video was shared by photographer Anieesh Upaasana and had Mohanlal observing a moment of prayer.

Barroz, which is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and is shot in 3D, is said to made on a budget of Rs100 crore, employing the most advanced technology. Santhosh Raman, the film’s art director, had earlier said that Barroz is being planned as an Onam release. But this has been pushed to December and sources say the film might even be an early 2024 release.

The movie’s distribution rights have reportedly been bagged by Disney, which is planning to release the movie in over 20 languages across the world. The film’s OTT rights is also rumoured to be sold to Disney+ Hotstar that had bought Mohanlal’s Alone, Monster and Bro Daddy.

The movie has Mohanlal essaying the role of a 300-year-old guardian ghost who protects the treasure of Vasco D’Gama. It also has Padmavati Rao, Sara Vega and Komal Sharma in pivotal roles. Veteran cinematographer Santhosh Sivan will lens the film, while Sreekar Prasad handles the editing. Meanwhile Mohanlal is shooting Vrushabha with Kannada film director Nanda Kishore, which is a Malayalam Telugu bilingual drama. Mohanlal is next expected to join the sets of Empuraan, which marks the second instalment of the Lucifer franchise.
