Veteran actress Basanti Chatterjee was released from the hospital recently. She came home on March 30, according to her family. The actress, 87, was admitted to a nursing home in Dum Dum on March 6. She was critically ill. She has been in a coma from then on.
Basanti Devi has been suffering from stomach cancer for a long time. She has a pacemaker. The doctors said that her kidneys were not working. However, she recovered after a long ailment. In an interview with Anandabazar Online, the veteran actress said, “I am better now, but still weak.” She wants to get back to the shooting floor soon. “I want to start shooting, but I have problems walking in my house. I don’t have much strength in my legs. I will come to the floor after I get better.” Her daughter and son-in-law are regularly paying her a visit to her house and taking care of her.
Basanti Devi faced financial difficulties owing to the treatment cost. West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum was by her side. She was acting in the serial Geeta LLB before being hospitalized. He played Bhaswar Chatterjee’s mother. The unit is now happy with her recovery. The serial streams on Disney+ Hotstar.
