In a recent appearance on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, actress Sharon Stone divulged one of her casting couch experiences from the 1980s. Though she did not name the person, as she believes it to be a “pointless exercise,” Stone did reveal it to be an ex-boss of Sony Pictures. She recalled her initial excitement and elation for getting “to meet the head of Sony” as those were her struggling days in LA as a newcomer.
A nostalgic Stone said that she wore a “Ralph Lauren jacket with the little ruffle on the shoulder” as well as a “denim skirt with a big ruffle at the bottom.” She paired the cute outfit with a pair of cowboy boots. However, the office of the executive was not very conducive to her outfit, comprising of “very low giant couches” done up in the 80s fashion.
Being tall, Stone was half-sprawled across the couch, with her knees around her neck, looking “all legs sitting there akimbo on the couch.” The Sony executive then soon receded his pacing and began talking. He said, “Oh, it’s true what they say about you and you’re the most gorgeous. We haven’t seen anyone like you in decades.”
He continued complimenting, “Everybody’s talking about you and look at you. You’re the most articulate. You’re so smart and beautiful and that hair.” As he kept talking, he walked up to Stone and arrived at his topical point as well. Stone articulated, “he took his penis right out in my face.”
In that traumatic moment, a very young and nervous Stone did what her bubbly nature was prone to. Laughing, here along with a good additional dosage of crying. The hysterical breakdown must have turned off the ex-head of Sony’s mood for he left soon after, and had his secretary lead her out of his office.
When asked why she did not disclose this incident earlier, Stone spoke wisely and realistically that no one would have listened to her or hired her again, especially Sony. But now that Sony doesn’t hire her anyway, she has nothing to lose or gain from the revelation, other than voicing her truth.
