The ‘Mother Nature’ has been revived. Poison Ivy who calls herself Mother Nature in one of her famous lines: "I Am Nature's Arm. Her Spirit. Hell, I Am Mother Nature," will make an appearance on the silver screen again in her latest avatar. Bridget Regan will be playing the popular DC supervillain in the third season of the CW TV series Batwoman. According to reports in Variety, the American actress will don the character of the misanthropic botanist in a recurring guest role on the superhero show’s latest season.
Regan will join the long list of seasoned talent that have represented Poison Ivy on the silver screen, including Uma Thurman, Clare Foley, Maggie Geha and Peyton List.
The season two finale of Batwoman had teased some of the villains expected to make their appearance in the coming season. A short clip at the end of the season two’s 18th episode shows a river in Gotham city, wherein a few signatures of popular Batman villains can be seen, including a black and white striped umbrella, a top hat and green vines sprouting on its shores, signalling the arrival of the infamous characters like the Penguin, the Mad Hatter and of course, Poison Ivy.
The fan favourite villain, who occasionally has been portrayed as an anti-heroine and even a heroine, is the alter ego of Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, a biochemist and botanist. The botanist has the abilities to control nature, a poisonous touch and the power to extend pheromones that can control people’s minds. She has an affinity to all plant life, choosing them over humans, and uses her superpowers to indulge in eco-terrorist activities and face-off against Batman.
Bridget Regan also had a stint in the MCU earlier, when she played the role of Dottie Underwood in the Marvel spinoff series Agent Carter. In addition she has also gained popularity for her roles on the show Legend of the Seeker, White Collar and Jane the Virgin.
