The iconic DC villain Poison Ivy is all set to make a live-action comeback to the silver screen yet again. The third season of Batwoman has recently let out the first look poster of the villain, played by Nicole Kang.
The poster was unveiled on the CW show’s official Instagram handle. It features Kang all suited up in a new and stylish version of Ivy’s green costume and signature red hair. The character is seen standing amid wild plants and vines, including the carnivorous Venus flytrap.
In the series, Kang plays Mary Hamilton, a medical graduate who runs a clinic. She becomes infected by a thorn from a vine that had been kept by Batman and had since been lost. The vine had originally belonged to the first Poison Ivy, Pamela Isley.
According to Collider, Kang had been thrilled to portray the iconic villain, expressing her excitement to follow in Uma Thurman’s footsteps. Thurman had been the first one to play Ivy’s live-action version, in the 1997 film, Batman and Robin. Besides Thurman, Poison Ivy had also been played by Clare Foley, Maggie Geha and Peyton List had played the villain on the show, Gotham.
Batwoman tells the story of the titular masked vigilante who tries to protect Gotham city from criminals and villains. In addition to Kang, the series also stars Javicia Leslie, Camrus Johnson, Robin Givens, Victoria Cartagena, Rachel Skarsten and Meagan Tandy.
