After a fortnight’s delay due to the demise of Mammootty’s mother Fathima Ismail, the megastar’s latest movie Bazooka is set to go on floors in Kochi on Wednesday. The movie, which will mark the directorial debut of scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis’ son Deeno, also has Gautham Vasudev Menon and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast.
The film also has Neeta Pillai as the female lead. This is the first time that she’s teaming up with Mammootty. The actress, who had previously starred in Suresh Gopi’s Paappan, had recently worked with Dileep in his big-budget entertainer that is helmed by Udal director Ratheesh Reghunandan.

In an earlier interview with us, Deeno said that he had been in discussion with Mammootty for a movie for the past few years and when he pitched this subject, the actor immediately gave him the nod.
“I have been working on the script of this film for the past three years. I felt Mammukka is the most apt for this movie. When I got a chance to pitch him the idea, I went to him with the complete scene order. He was excited about it as soon as he heard it,” Deeno told OTTplay, in an earlier interview.
