Fans of Bigg Boss Kannada who were expecting a two-day grand finale were in for disappointment, when it was revealed that it would be a one-day affair only on January 18, 2026. In fact, voting lines remain open till 10 am on the day of the finale, with the shoot expected to begin thereafter. Unlike other seasons, this time around, the showrunners have not been running promos to create buzz for the finale, which, incidentally, is coinciding with the Bigg Boss Tamil finale.

This and the 1-day finale is apparently down to Sudeep’s busy schedule; he’s begun playing the Celebrity Cricket League, the first match of his team going down on January 16. Social media has been abuzz in recent days about Sudeep’s apparent disinterest in the proceedings, and that his interactions during the weekend episodes seemed like he had no idea of all that had transpired in the week gone by. Sudeep has often spoken about the amount of time he spends with the team to understand the week’s pertinent happenings, to be able to handle his sessions with the contestants, but that appeared to have been taken over by context and responses fed by the showrunners, felt audiences.

One online discussion thread had several theories, but main among them is the Kicchana Chappale incident from last weekend, when Sudeep awarded Dhruvanth the ‘honour’ for the whole season and Ashwini Gowda for the week. The channel posted the same on social media, which was opposed by netizens and soon enough, it was reposted as Dhruvanth being the winner of the Kicchana Chappale for the week. The contestant was eliminated from the show only days later, ahead of the finale.

In response, another user wrote, “The backlash he is receiving this season is unfair. People are nitpicking every small thing he says, which probably made him lose interest and stop watching the episodes altogether. Now, it feels like he’s just following whatever the makers ask him to do.”

Netizens reckoned that the channel should have stood by Sudeep’s decision to confer the Kicchana Chappale of the season to Dhruvanth and that going against him is akin to an insult. “The channel did him dirty by downplaying his personal Season's KC opinion, right or wrong it's called Kichhana Chappale for a reason, it's his choice,” wrote a netizen, adding that the online abuse Sudeep has been subjected to this season by fans of a particular contestant has resulted in him treating this season as “mere formality and not something he enjoyed and loved”.

Last year, Sudeep had announced his decision to quit the show and was even given a farewell during the season finale, but then he and the showrunners negotiated a new deal for 4 years, having ironed out whatever issues had led to his departure.
