The world recently got its first look at Be Happy, a film starring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role and directed by Remo D'Souza, who had been eager to bring this project to life for a long time. However, what if we told you that Abhishek wasn’t the original choice for the film? Surprisingly, Salman Khan was initially set to play the lead. But the real reason he opted out is even more intriguing—he chose another film over Be Happy, which later became one of the most trolled Hindi movies of all time. Read on to find out more.

Salman Khan Was the Original Choice for Be Happy

Produced under the banner of Remo D'Souza Entertainment Pvt Ltd by Lizelle Remo D'Souza and directed by Remo D'Souza, Be Happy is a soul-stirring dance drama featuring a stellar cast, including Abhishek Bachchan, Nora Fatehi, and Inayat Verma, with Nassar, Johny Lever, and Harleen Sethi in pivotal roles. However, Salman Khan was originally finalized to play the role of the single father, which is now portrayed by Abhishek Bachchan. According to reports, Khan chose Race 3 over Be Happy.

Yes, you read that right. This revelation was made by producer Ramesh Taurani in an interview with News18 Showsha. He shared that Race 3 was not the first planned collaboration between Salman Khan and Remo D'Souza. Before that, they were working on Be Happy, a story about a single father willing to go to great lengths to fulfill his daughter's dream. Salman was deeply involved in the script alongside Remo, and the project had even cast Daisy Shah and Jacqueline Fernandez in key roles. However, as time passed, Salman became more inclined towards Race 3, leading to Be Happy being put on the backburner.

Taurani further added:"It was our decision to change the cast of Race. We wanted to work with Salman again after Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai and Auzaar. We had been trying to collaborate for four to five years before Race 3 finally happened." Now, with Abhishek Bachchan stepping into the lead role, Be Happy is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on March 14, 2024.
