The John David Washington starrer, Beckett is set to make its OTT release this week on streaming giant Netflix from August 13. The upcoming thriller, which had its world premiere on August 4 at the 74th Locarno Film Festival, is set against a background of political turmoil in Greece.
The film follows an innocent pair of American tourists in Greece, where the streets are rife with anti-government protests, who decide to do something spontaneous and instead of visiting Athens, decide to drive along the breathtakingly scenic Grecian countryside.
However, things take a turn for the worst when their car goes off a cliff and crashes into a house, killing the woman and leaving the man greviously injured. The grief stricken man’s luck seems to have run out, with circumstances following the crash becoming increasingly dire, as he becomes the target of Greek authorities who are convinced that he is dangerous. While trying to stay alive in the politically motivated manhunt against him, he also takes it upon himself to clear his name.
