After a break, Kunchacko Boban is all set to join the sets of his new film Ariyippu. The movie marks his second collaboration with director Mahesh Narayanan, whom he had worked with in the latter’s directorial debut Take Off.
Ariyippu, which was announced earlier this year, was initially set to begin shooting in July. However, it was pushed due to the second wave of COVID-19 cases in Kerala. Currently, OTTplay has learnt that the team will start shooting the movie in Ernakulam soon. Kunchacko Boban’s Udaya Studios will also be co-producing the film with Mahesh Narayanan and Shebin Becker.
The movie will have some of the best technicians in the industry. Mahesh, who has also scripted the film, will serve as its editor too. The director had most recently worked as a cinematographer in Fahadh Faasil’s Malayankunju.
Mahesh also has a Tamil project in the works, which will be scripted by Kamal Haasan. The movie is touted to be the sequel of Thevar Magan and will reportedly go on floors after the Tamil superstar completes work in Vikram and Indian 2.
Meanwhile, Kunchacko Boban will be making his Tamil debut with Fellini TP’s Ottu, which is titled Rendagam in Tamil. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Kunchacko Boban told us, “Ottu doesn’t have a nativity; it’s an entertainer. Having actors such as Arvind Swami and Jackie Shroff as part of it increases its grandeur as well as the reach. It’s a big budget movie and as Tamil is a language that I am familiar with, I am able to perform; I might find it more difficult during the dubbing. Again, it’s a movie that we are making for a theatrical release.”
