Ranbir Kapoor is currently seen in Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The film features Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. Before signing on for this project, the actor thought that rom-coms are dead.

Ranbir spilled the same to Pinkvilla. He called it bad luck that his film’s release was delayed almost often. His last hit Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji, also took almost 10 years to finally be out there. Before that, Anurag Basu’s Barfi took two years to release and Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar was also delayed and these are just a few examples of Ranbir’s movies that were delayed in its release.

“The types of rom-com movies I was offered were not very exciting. I can say that I was almost retired from this genre in my mind,” the actor shared, stating that the movies did not have anything new to offer, according to him.

Ranbir felt that the genre is dead and nobody wants to watch a rom-com today. He believed that the audiences needed ‘big-ticket experiences.’

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar marks a first for both Ranbir-Luv Ranjan and Ranbir-Shraddha Kapoor. Shraddha also makes her debut with both Ranbir and Luv through the film.

The film has a great buzz. It is working wonders because of how well the songs resonate with everyone. The storyline has also kept many hooked, even if it is not particularly a new concept.

TJMM also stars Dimple Kapadia, Anubhav Bassi and Boney Kapoor in pivotal roles. It has released in theatres and will soon be available for streaming on Netflix.
