Before you watch The Family Man 2, here’s all you need to know about Season 1

Manoj Bajpayee’s much-awaited series The Family Man 2 is all set to make its premiere on June 4 on Amazon Prime Video. The first season of this espionage thriller chronicled the life of Srikant Tiwari - an ordinary man by day, and an intelligence officer by night. His adventures come with real dangers and threats that he must keep away from his family when he returns home at night. The plot of this Raj and DK directorial was found to be supremely engaging and one-of-a-kind.

Now that the second season is just around the corner, it is imperative that you update yourself with the plotline of the last season to follow Srikant’s transformation into a man with a desk job. Here’s everything that happened in the last season that you need to know about-

1. How season 1 ends-

The previous season of the show ended on a gut wrenching cliffhanger. Srikant figures out that Moosa (the antagonist) has successfully evaded him, betrayed him and fooled him into believing that Mission Zulfiqar is over. A chemical plant which is ready to expel toxic gasses which will kill the population of Delhi in under two hours has been put in place by him.

Zoya (Shreya Dhanwanthary) and Milind (Sunny Hinduja) manage to break into the plant before realising that the security guards are ploys. They get into a battle of gunshots, Milind gets injured and has to call for backup. However, as the season comes to an end, Milind’s cry for help falls on deaf ears and the toxic gas slowly starts leaking. Zoya screams in horror and the audience is left to wonder what happens to the city.

Srikant’s quick judgement helps avert a huge tragedy but the fate of several people is still unknown.

2. What happens to Suchitra and Srikant-

The couple is on a rocky, uncertain path that is definitely starting to show the cracks in their relationship. The implication is that Suchitra (Priyamani) has been disloyal to her husband on a trip to Lonavala with Arvind (Sharad Kelkar). Or has she? What really happened that night?

It is doubtful if the couple’s marriage will survive and if their two children will be able to navigate their changing family dynamics. Srikant’s love for his family is evident and strong, but the relationship he shares with Suchitra has been fading for some time and by the end of season one, many promises they made to each other are probably broken.

3. What happens to Srikant’s job -

A possibility that the last season threw out in the open was Srikant losing his job due to being a part of a video that Karim’s girlfriend acquired. The college student was killed by Srikant’s team and the family man agrees to take the hit for his men. However, he is discouraged from doing so. The actions of the team catch up to them when a video of Karim’s fate resurfaces and puts the future of Srikant in the task force in doubt.

The Family Man season 2 is going to take the audience through an unfamiliar path of twists and turns that will bring some important truths to light. The second season, which will air on Amazon Prime Video later this week, marks the digital debut of Samantha Akkineni.
