Bellamkonda Sreenivas and Nenu Student Sir director Rakesh Uppalapati team up for a sports drama

Bellamkonda Sreenivas, son of producer Bellamkonda Suresh, was launched amidst much fanfare with the mass entertainer Alludu Seenu, directed by VV Vinayak. He later went onto act in several popular films like Jaya Janaki Nayaka, Speedunnodu, Sakshyam and scored a surprise hit with Rakshasudu, the Telugu remake of Ratchasan.

Earlier this year, he forayed into Hindi cinema with Chatrapathi, the remake of the Prabhas, Shriya Saran starrer, originally helmed by SS Rajamouli. While the film was a box office dud, the actor is back to home base, signing multiple Telugu films. He has already announced a film with Bheemla Nayak director Sagar K Chandra and now we have an update about his new project too.

In a media interaction, Naandhi-fame producer Satish Varma confirmed that he’s roped in Bellamkonda Sreenivas for a sports drama. The film will be directed by Rakesh Uppalapati, who’s making his debut with Nenu Student Sir this weekend. The latter is an action thriller starring Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ brother Ganesh Bellamkonda alongside Bhagyashree’s daughter Avantika Dassani.

“Sreenivas has given his consent to a sports drama on the lines of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and he’s liked the script immensely. It’ll be more like a fictional biopic,” the producer claimed. Satish Varma was reportedly very impressed by a web series that Rakesh Uppalapati had filmed and decided to introduce him in cinema with Nenu Student Sir, whose story is written by Krishna Chaitanya.

Even with the casting of Avantika, the Maine Pyar Kiya actress Bhagyashree was keen to launch her daughter in South Indian films and discussed the same with Sreenivas during Chatrapathi. Her casting for Nenu Student Sir was finalised at the same time. Nenu Student Sir, to release on June 2, also stars Samuthirakani, Sunil, Srikanth Iyengar and has music by Mahati Swara Sagar.
