Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is set to release in cinema soon and the actor believes the film's success will rival the blockbuster milestone achieved by Spider-Man: No Way Home.

"It’s a big, big movie. It’s going to be an absolute riot. And if it brings off the level of ambition it’s got, we’re going to have a success on the level of Spidey. There you go, I’ll put my flag in the sand," Cumberbatch told Empire magazine.

No Way Home went on to earn $1.69 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the sixth highest-grossing film of all time ever after Jurassic World ($1.67 billion) and The Lion King ($1.662 billion). The Tom Holland-led superhero action film is also the first to reach the billion mark in the time of the pandemic, according to Deadline.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is a sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange. It is part of Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 and will continue the intermingled storylines featured in recently released movies and TV shows including No Way Home, WandaVision, Loki among others, notes NME

Sam Raimi, known for the iconic Spider-Man trilogy set at Sony, has helmed this feature. A trailer of the film was released during Super Bowl, which had a lot of surprises in store for fans including the presence of Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier aka Professor X from X-Men.

The 28th MCU movie also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theatres on May 6.
