Benz: Lokesh Kanagaraj's next LCU film, with Raghava Lawrence, goes on floors

Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently busy with his upcoming film, Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie. But the Vikram director has also set the ball rolling for his next film from the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). He is backing Benz, starring Raghava Lawrence in the lead, which will be directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan. The much-anticipated Tamil film has been officially launched, and a traditional pooja ceremony was held in Chennai on Monday. Read on to know all the latest updates.

Lokesh Kanagaraj's Benz with Raghava Lawrence

Benz, which stars Raghava Lawrence in the lead role, went on the floors on Monday. The team kicked off shooting for the film, which is a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). But notably, Lokesh is not directing Benz. The young director had previously helmed all three films from the LCU. But he has penned the story for the upcoming film, which is being directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, who has previously helmed movies such as Remo and Sulthan.

Sai Abhyankkar, the young Indie music sensation, has been roped in as the music director for the film, and will be marking his debut with Benz.

The mega-budget movie will have shooting in India and foreign locations, spread across 120 days. Goutham G is the cinematographer, while Philomin Raj is the editor. The film, which promises high-octane action, will have Anal Arasu as the action choreographer. This is the second venture of Lokesh's production house, G Squad

But apart from the lead star and the crew, other details of the cast have not been revealed.

Fans react to Benz launch

After the movie was officially launched, fans took to social media to share their excitement. Several netizens welcomed Raghava Lawrence to the LCU, while many said that they are eagerly waiting for the movie. Some people also hoped to see Rolex in Benz. For the unversed, Suriya made a cameo appearance as Rolex in Vikram.

The other three films in the LCU are Karthi’s Kaithi, Vikram, and Vijay-starrer Leo. Vikram starred Kamal Haasan in the lead along with Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil.
