The release date of Berlin, a Netflix spinoff of Money Heist, and a new teaser for the program allude to a new plot involving a risky diamond heist. Money Heist, created by Lex Pina, premiered on Netflix in 2017 and became an instant hit. Because of how popular the show was, a new book called Money Heist: Korea—Joint Economic Area came out last year. The world of the series is now poised to grow even further with the release of Berlin, a spinoff centred on the same-named character from the original series.

Netflix has released a new look at the much-anticipated Berlin spinoff. Last fall, a short teaser showed the new characters and gave us a taste of what to expect.

In the short teaser, Pedro Alonso, who last played Berlin, aka Andres de Fonolloso, in Money Heist season 5, can be seen getting ready for a new heist. In the trailer, there are hints that Berlin will steal jewels in "the city of love" in a carefully planned heist and that a mysterious woman may be important to the plot. The teaser also indicates that the show will premiere in December of this year.

Berlin from Money Heist gave up his life in season 2, but the character was so popular that he showed up in flashback scenes in seasons 3, 4, and 5. Because the character is technically dead during the current timeline of the main show, Berlin will serve as a prequel, detailing a significant heist that the character pulls off before eventually meeting the Professor (Álvaro Morte), Denver (Jaime Lorente), Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), and the rest of the gang. When it comes to where the episode takes place, Netflix's use of the phrase "city of love" seems to confirm that Paris will be a big part of Berlin's big jewel theft.

It seems that love will have a significant impact in Berlin. The musical will be "a voyage through the golden phase of the character, when he went across Europe insane in love," according to Pina, who also created Berlin. In addition, he hinted that the impending spinoff would be unexpectedly hilarious, a change from the frequently more sombre mothership series.

A stunning ensemble of new characters, including those portrayed by Marcel Gonzalez, Miko Jarry, Tristán Ulloa, Michelle Jenner, Julio Peña, and Begoña Vargas, will be included in the Money Heist spinoff in addition to Alonso. It's uncertain whether any of the original show's fan favourites will make a comeback, but it's feasible that some recognisable faces could appear.
