2. Gharshana (Prime Video)

Venkatesh slips into the role of an action hero in the 2004 film Gharshana. Helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film features Asin, Saleem Baig, and Ravi Prakash in prominent roles. The story revolves around a gangster's quest for revenge against law enforcement agencies, whom he blames for the death of his brother.

3. Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Prime Video)

The 2013 Srikanth Addala directorial, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, features a star-studded ensemble of Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Anjali, and Prakash Raj. The film’s story revolves around the lives of the two brothers, their bond despite their contrasting personalities, and their separate journeys to find the right woman to settle down with. The complexities in their lives are central to the narrative and are depicted through mild humour and drama.

4. Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule (Zee5 free)

Helmed by K. Selvaraghavan, Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule, is a romcom featuring Venkatesh and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles. Venkatesh plays the role of a man who is living the best life he could have dreamed of – a high-paying job and a loving girlfriend complete his idyllic existence. However, his perfect life crashes into chaos when he discovers that his girlfriend is engaged to someone else. What happens next? You’ve got to watch this one to find out.

5. Malliswari (YouTube free)

Bollywood star Katrina Kaif stars opposite Venkatesh in this romantic comedy, Malliswari. Directed by Vijay K. Bhaskar, the film narrates the story of a woman who inherits her father’s vast fortune but decides to move to another city and live under an alias for her own safety and those she cares about. But as it turns out, she falls in love with a banker and her past catches up with her and she becomes a potential target for assassination.

6. Kshana Kshanam (Prime Video)

The Ram Gopal Varma directorial Kshana Kshanam is widely regarded as one of Venkatesh's best films. The 1991 action thriller stars the Bollywood stalwart Sridevi opposite Venkatesh. The plot revolves around a road trip undertaken by a young man and a young woman under mysterious circumstances. Their journey turns perilous after being caught between a bank robber and police officers. Varma later remade this film in Hindi in the Sanjay Dutt-Urmila Matondkar starrer Daud.

7. Swarnakamalam (VI Movies)

The romantic drama Swarnakamalam narrates the story of a young woman who refuses to embrace her family’s legacy of classical dance. However, when a young man enters her life and convinces her that there is beauty in the art form, she reconsiders her position. Bhanupriya essays the role of the dancer opposite Venkatesh in this award-winning film which is helmed by K. Viswanath.

8. Raja (Aha)

The 1999 film Raja, stars Venkatesh, Soundarya, Abbas, and Sudhakar in lead roles.

Directed by Muppalaneni Siva, the plot revolves around two thieves named Raja and Bala who seek refuge at the house of a woman named Anjali, whilst escaping from law enforcement. Raja soon stumbles upon various challenges affecting Anjali’s life and decides to help her. The film won three Filmfare South Awards including Best Film and Best Actress.
