A 2013 American apocalyptic comedy film that has an ensemble star cast of James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera and Emma Watson. The movie revolves around the cast who play fictionalised versions of themselves as they are trapped in a house when a series of events around the world sets off the apocalypse. They must team up together to survive the end of the world. It has a balanced mix of horror and comedy that other films of this genre fail to deliver.

Go Goa Gone

The first Indian Zombie movie that was released in 2013, starring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Puja Gupta, and Anand Tiwari. The story is about a group of friends who visit an unknown island while in Goa for a joyous rave party, but next morning find themselves amidst infested zombies. The film was appreciated for its editing and introducing zombies to Indian cinema. The success of the film has greenlit a sequel, set to be released in 2023.

Zombieland

Zombieland was a critically acclaimed and commercially successful film grossing more than $60.8million in a fortnight of its release.

It is a 2018 Indian comedy horror film that stars Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead along with Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee in supporting roles. The story is based in a small town called Chanderi, which is possessed by an evil spirit named ‘Stree’, who abducts men at night. Vicky and his friends set out to find the truth behind this mystery.

Bhootnath is a Hindi horror comedy film released in 2008, written and directed by Vivek Sharma. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Aman Siddiqui, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Rajpal Yadav in lead roles and Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo appearance. The story is about a young couple along with their son Banku who shift to a new house named ‘Nath Villa’ are welcomed by an unfriendly ghost of the previous owner who wants to drive them out. However, Banku befriends the ghost and helps him attain his final journey.

Bhooter Bhobishyot

Directed by Anik Datta, this Bengali horror comedy released in 2012 to immense critical acclaim. The film, featuring an ensemble cast that includes names like Parambrata Chatterjee, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Swastika Chatterjee, revolves around a motley group of ghosts from different decades who find themselves in existential crisis when promoters eye to demolish the deserted mansion they occupy and turn it into a shopping complex.
