As 2022 is coming to an end, let us talk about the films that tops the list of most popular films. The Kashmir Files, a Bollywood film, continued to garner headlines throughout the year, despite the fact that South films managed to dominate with strong stories and scripts. The movie won over audience's hearts in addition to its controversy by depicting the harsh reality of the circumstances the Kashmiri Pandits had to deal with. The Ram Charan-Jr NTR starrer RRR won the top spot in IMDb's list of the top 10 popular Indian films of 2022. The Kashmir Files starring Anupam Kher and KGF 2 starring Yash came in second and third, respectively.

SS Rajamouli's RRR, starring Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, is a Tamil film. Recently, it received two nominations for the Golden Globe Awards, one for Best Foreign Film and the other for Best Original Song (Naatu Naatu). RRR, which was theatrically released in March, earned more over Rs 1,200 crore at the box office worldwide. The movie's Hindi version released on Netflix on May 20 and quickly rose to the position of most-watched Indian film on the platform globally.

The Kashmir Files:

After its release, "The Kashmir Files" became a topic of national discussion. The film, which stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, and Chinmay Mandlekar, depicts the tragic flight of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990. Vivek Agnihotri's film, which he also directed, brought in about Rs 252 crore in India and almost Rs 340 billion internationally.

KGF Chapter 2:

Rocky is feared in the bloody Kolar Gold Fields in K.G.F: Chapter 2, a follow-up to the 2018 movie K.G.F: Chapter 1. While the government sees him as a threat to law and order, his allies look up to him. Rocky must face dangers from all directions if he wants to be uncontested. For the residents of Narachi, he is a hero and a rescuer. Besides Yash, the film also starred Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon.

Vikram:

Kamal Haasan portrays RAW agent Arun Kumar in the film Vikram. RAW is India's external intelligence agency. He can be violent at times and has no patience for criminals. The movie features Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil and Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi, who both portray antagonists.

Kantara:

Within a few days of its debut, Rishab Shetty's film Kantara, which he also wrote and directed, gained enormous fame and became a hit at the box office. Rishab Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, and Kishore Kumar G play crucial parts in it. Shetty is reportedly about to begin production on the movie's sequel as well.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect:

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, starring R. Madhavan, opened in theatres on July 1 to positive reviews from both critics and viewers. The 52-year-old actor is the director, producer, and writer of the biographical drama, which is based on the life of aeronautical engineer Nambi Narayanan. In the film, Madhavan also plays the lead role. The movie can be streamed online in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on Prime Video, as well as in Hindi and Tamil on Voot Select.

Major:

Adivi Sesh, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Revathi, and Murali Sharma all have significant roles in Sashi Kiran Tikka's film Major, which also features Sobhita Dhulipala. The movie is a biographical drama on Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's amazing journey. It performed well at the box office and got favourable reviews.

Sita Ramam:

Sita Ramam, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur, released in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam before being released in Hindi. Sita Ramam, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and also starring Rashmika Mandana, demonstrates how humanity is more important than conflict, boundaries, and religion. 

Ponniyin Selvan: Part One:

Mani Ratnam magnum opus had a huge cast, which will shortly have a sequel. The movie, which was based on a series of novels by Kalki, stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Sobhuta Dhulipala, and many others.

777 Charlie:

This Kannada movie by Kiranraj K, which starred Rakshit Shetty and Sangeetha Sringeri among others, told the story of the friendship between a dog and a lonely factory worker. The movie only had a small theatrical run, but after earning positive reviews, it became one of the most widely discussed Kannada movies of the year.
