G Ashok, who made his directorial debut with the children’s film Ushodayam, shot to fame with Nani’s Pilla Zamindar. He later made a mark with films like Bhaagamathie, Chitrangada and Sukumarudu. Recently, the filmmaker forayed in Hindi cinema with the remake of Bhaagamathie titled Durgamati, that directly premiered on Amazon Prime Video. Now, the filmmaker has finalised his next project, which will incidentally be a pan-Indian film.

Entrepreneur Amit Bhatia, founder and MD of Mach Conferences and Events, will be venturing into film production with the project. Reports suggest that Amit Bhatia and G Ashok’s first collaboration – still untitled – will go on floors in the first week of October. In an official statement, the producer conveyed his excitement about teaming up with the filmmaker for a big-budget film that’ll be headlined by top stars.

“I am ecstatic about foraying into films and I’m all the more excited about associating with director G Ashok. He is among those filmmakers who have a clear understanding of the pan-Indian cinema trend. I couldn’t have thought of a more apt name than G Ashok to direct this project. I can’t wait to commence work on the film with him and I’m sure he’ll translate my vision into reality. More official announcements about the cast and crew will be out shortly,” Amit Bhatia added.

That’s not all. Amit Bhatia has finalised the second and third projects after the G Ashok directorial. While the shoot of the second film will commence in April 2023 and is set to be filmed in London, the third film under his banner will take off in the second half of 2023, the statement confirms.

G Ashok, before turning a filmmaker, is also a classical dancer who had associated with veterans like DKS Babu, Swarnalatha, Lawrence and Raju Sundaram. He had also worked as a choreographer for movies like Master, Annamayya, Pelli, Osey Ramulamma and Jeans.
