Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai actress Shubhangi Atre's ex-husband Piyush Poorey is no more. He died on Saturday after a battle with liver cirrhosis. Shubhangi, who plays the lead role of Angoori bhabhi on the show, is in mourning but has gone back to shoot for Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai since Sunday. She has now shared her first statement since the news broke in the media.
Shubhangi has shared her first statement since her ex-husband died on Saturday. She told Times of India, "Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this."
Shubhangi Atre took Saturday off to mourn for her ex-husband. She was back on shoot a day later for the TV show, which is available for streaming on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium. For the uninitiated, Atre plays the leading role of Angoori bhabhi in Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai co-starring Aasif Sheikh as the male lead. Unfortunately, Aasif Sheikh also collapsed on the sets and had to take a few days off shoot. He resumed shooting just a few days back. It is also to be noted that the writer of Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai died around the same time as Sheikh collapsed on sets. Thus, the shooting had to be halted for a few days even in March.
Chidiya Ghar actress Shubhangi Atre and Piyush Poorey tried to give their relationship another chance, mainly for their daughter Ashi's sake. However, as per a source quoted by Hindustan Times, since that did not work out, the couple finally decided to go ahead with the divorce proceedings. They had already moved on in their lives and remained cordial with one another for Ashi's sake. The couple got officially divorced on February 5 this year, two months before Piyush's demise. He was a digital marketing professional, while Ashi is currently studying in the US.
