Television actor Deepesh Bhan, who is known for playing the dim-witted Malkhan Singh in the sitcom Bhabi ji Ghar Par Hai, has passed away at the age of 41. The actor reportedly collapsed earlier this morning while playing cricket. He was then taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
While Bhan had a late shoot with the show’s team today, he reportedly headed to the cricket field after working out in the morning. The reason for his passing has not yet been disclosed by the authorities.
"I was devastated when I got word of his death in the morning. I met him only yesterday, and we shot a few fun videos together. We were very close friends and would often discuss this with each other. He was such an amazing person and would even help me with my scenes," said his co-star, Charul Malik.
The actor also took to Instagram to share a post in remembrance of his co-star. Sharing a black and white photo with the actor, she wrote that it is hard to accept Bhan’s passing.
Producer Binaifer Kohli also shared her thoughts following the news, saying that it is hard to come to terms with reality and that the late actor was like a son to her. She also told the Indian Express that Bhan had recently lost his mother and was "shattered".
Bhan played Malkhan in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, a dim-witted man who tries to woo women but is unsuccessful more often than not. The show, which premiered in March 2015, follows two neighbouring families, the Mishras and the Tiwaris, and the husbands are attracted to each other’s wives. The show is available to stream on ZEE5.
