Group 2 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup saw Pakistan lose two games and win their third against the Netherlands. However, to keep their hopes alive in the tournament, the Men in Green would need India to defeat South Africa in their game.
But after the toss, opting to bat first, India saw their top order collapse cheaply. The Men in Blue struggled against South Africa, especially against Lungi Ngidi's pace attack.
Rohit Sharma and Co were reduced to 49/5, and soon former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who was not at all impressed with the Indian batsmen, took a sly dig at the Indian team.
Akhtar shared a video with the caption, "Bhaiyo bahut jaldi main hain?" in which he stated that even though Pakistan's hopes were tied to India's win, the Indian players were not at their best.
The Rawalpindi Express added, "Maine kaha tha video mein that India needs to win for Pakistan. Aur Pakistan ko marwana nahi hai. Pakistan ko marwa rahe hai. Chaar out karwa diye. Pata nahi aage kya hota hai."
Talking about the clash, Suryakumar Yadav (68) came in as a blessing for the Indian team and helped them score 133 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Lungi Ngidi took the four crucial wickets followed by Wayne Parnell who took three.
In reply, India took three quick wickets, but Aiden Markram (52) and David Miller dampened the mood of the Indian fans with their partnership.
