On Friday, Century Star Shivarajkumar will have the release of his 122th film, which comes a good year and a half after his last, Drona. In media interactions ahead of the film’s release, the actor was asked how special Bhajarangi 2 is to him, considering it is also the third combination with director A Harsha? “The title Bhajarangi has a very positive vibe to it and every film that was named after Anjaneya (Lord Hanuman), has been good for me, elevated by the making by Harsha. Also, this is a film produced by Jayanna Combines, which is as good as working for a home production. This is my fourth film with them, after Bangara s/o Bangarada Manushya, Mufti and Rustum, each of which were different. This is a film that I shot for after surgery on my shoulder. Most of the major action sequences of Bhajarangi 2 were done after I returned from London. So, it is important for audiences to see how I have managed. Most importantly, everyone thought Bhajarangi 2 is a sequel – it is not. This is not a continuation of the story. The title has been retained because of its positivity; that’s all there is to it,” he says.

The film, adds Shivarajkumar, was cleared with U/A without cuts, even though there is a lot of action. “There are action sequences, but they are not gory and done stylistically in keeping with the fantasy theme of the film,” he says.

The actor is also excited that audiences are returning to movie halls. “It is a good welcome for us. We want more family audiences to watch our film. There are some who are still wary about stepping out. We are hopeful that the hype surrounding the film, especially after the trailer came out, will get people to come to theatres. The entertainment element apart, I think, audiences should watch Bhajarangi 2 because it will transport them into a different world; that’s the magic of a fantasy film. The film is also rich in its making, which will come across in the get-ups of characters, the special effects, etc. At the end of the day, this is a content-driven film; it’s about following what we are trying to say within this fantasy realm,” he signs off.
