Bharathiraja’s Margazhi Thingal to clash with Vijay’s Leo

The release date of Manoj Bharathiraja's directorial debut, Margazhi Thingal, was announced on Monday. The film is all set to be released in theatres on October 20, meaning that it will clash with the much-awaited Vijay-starrer Leo. 

Margazhi Thinkal stars Manoj's father and veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja in the lead role. It also stars debutants Rakshana and Shyam Selvan in prominent roles.

Actor brothers Suriya and Karthi unveiled the trailer of the film. Margazhi Thingal is a film that is based in a village and is said to cater to audiences of all age groups. The film has elements of love, emotions, drama, and other commercial ingredients.

The trailer establishes that Rakshana's character is very close to her grandfather, played by the veteran Bharathiraja. She falls in love with her classmate Vinodh (Shyaam), which concerns her grandfather. The complexities of an intra-caste relationship forms the crux of the story of the film.

Ilaiyaraaja, the music director of Margazhi Thingal

The film is backed by director Suseenthiran under the Vennila Productions banner. Ilaiyaraaja has scored the music for the film in which Suseenthiran plays a pivotal role. The cinematographer of Margazhi Thingal is AR Suriya, while Thiyagu is the editor.

Bharathiraja was last seen in the film Karumegangal Kalaigindrana which was directed by Thangar Bachan.
