Bhavana, who was last seen in Case of Kondana, is reuniting with her Bhajarangi 2 co-star Shivarajkumar. This time around, it is in the Rohit Padaki directed gangster tale Uttarakaanda, which is currently on floors in Bijapur. Last night, news broke that the actress is a part of the film, which she confirms, adding that she will join the set only in late May, as she is currently held up with multiple projects in Malayalam.
“I was approached for Uttarakaanda way back in January this year. At the time, they had told me that the shooting will begin in April, but that my portions will be only sometime in May. That works for me, as I have the promotions of Nadikar and the shooting schedule of at least 2 other films until then,” she tells OTTplay, adding that there was no other information about the film she can share at this point.
A source, though, tells us that Bhavana plays Shivarajkumar’s wife in the film and has a 20-day schedule when she joins the set. Chaithra J Achar, who was recently announced as Lacchi, is Dhananjaya’s pair in the film. As for the rumours about Aishwarya Rajesh’s casting, it is said that the actress is Ramya’s replacement and will not be paired with anyone. A pivotal character, this one requires a rough-and-tough look, which Aishwarya can pull off, says the source.
Uttarakaanda, which officially went on floors earlier this week, has a massive ensemble cast on board, with some of the names having been announced by the team. While Shivarajkumar and Dhananjaya will lead it, also on board, officially, are Chaithra, Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu, Diganth and Yogaraj Bhat. Rangayana Raghu, Gopalkrishna Deshpande and Achyuth Kumar, who are staples in most productions, are also likely to be a part of the cast, adds the source.
When it was first announced, Uttarakaanda was meant to be a Dhananjaya film, which has now metamorphosized into this mammoth project with a lot of big names attached to it. Produced by KRG Studios, for who this marks the third collaboration with Dhananjaya, Uttarakaanda was meant to be Ramya’s return vehicle. The actress had foregone the chance to make her comeback with her home production Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, presumably because Uttarakaanda was on the anvil at that point, but as of late March, she confirmed she isn’t doing that either.
Bhavana was first paired with Shivarajkumar in Bhajarangi 2, which is available to stream on Zee5 and on OTTplay Premium. The actress was Shivarajkumar's love interest in the modern-day portions of the A Harsha directorial. The beautiful romantic number Nee Sigoovaregu by Sid Sriram is picturized on the duo.
