National Award-winning filmmaker Chetan Mundadi’s film Bhavapurna, which had released in theatres in November last year, has finally found a streaming outlet. The film led by Ramesh Pandit is now on Amazon Prime Video, albeit in the store and available on rent only. Bhavapurna can be rented at Rs 79, which will give users access to the film for 30 days and 48 hours to finish it once started.

Also starring Shylashree Aras, Atharva Prakash, Veenya Rai and Manjunath Hegde, Chethan Rai, Nagendra Shah, Shivaji Rao Jadhav, H K Murthy, M.K. Mata, Ramesh K Salagundi, Narayanswami, Pavan Kumar, Bhavapurna is set in 1990 and follows Ramesh’s character Dharmanna, who works at the local panchayat office, while also dealing with a very bossy wife. After attending the funeral of a friend, it occurs to him that he ought to take a photo of himself for his family to remember him after his death.

However, despite his best efforts, Dharmanna is not able to procure a photo, which sets in motion a series of events. The film has a second storyline as well, with the love story of Sekhari (Atharva Prakash), and Radhe (Veenya), a relationship that the latter’s father Seenappa (Manjunath Hegde) does not tolerate. What Manjunath does to Sekhari forms one part of the story. According to the critic reviews of Bhavapurna that came out after its theatrical release, Ramesh Pandit is the life and soul of the film.

Bhavapurna landing on the Prime Video store only is likely because of the streamer’s increasing reluctance in picking Kannada content and, often doing so only with hybrid deals for a few months only. Kannada films like Orchestra, Mysuru! and Daredevil Musthafa were available to stream for 6 months only, with Tagarupalya also rumoured to be under such a deal.
