Telugu cinema is going great guns after the second wave of pandemic, registering impressive hits like Love Story, Akhanda, Pushpa The Rise, Bangarraju, DJ Tillu and the latest addition to the list is unsurprisingly the Pawan Kalyan, Rana Daggubati starrer Bheemla Nayak. For the uninitiated, Bheemla Nayak is the Telugu remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum, written by Sachy, directed by Saagar K Chandra and has screenplay, dialogues by Trivikram. The film that hit theatres on February 25 has set the ticket registers ringing, impressing critics and audiences alike.
While Bheemla Nayak turned out to be a million dollar baby in the US right on its premiere night, the film has crossed the prestigious $2 million mark over the weekend. Idlebrain.com has reported that only two Telugu remakes have moved past the $2 million milestone at the US box office - Khaidi No. 150 (starring Chiranjeevi, the remake of Kaththi) and Bheemla Nayak. On the whole, this is the 19th Telugu movie to have registered this feat. This also means that the Pawan Kalyan starrer has broke even and the US distributor will enter into the profit zone starting Monday.
Meanwhile in Australia, Bheemla Nayak has collected A$3 lakh over the weekend (A$ 290,412 to be precise) and A$22,692 in New Zealand. Until Sunday, the film in UK garnered an impressive £131,939. In the Telugu states too, there's no stopping this box office marathon, where it has managed a Rs 53 crore share over the first three days. The action entertainer will need another Rs 30-35 crore in AP/Telangana to ensure profits for the distributors.
Nithya Menen, Samyuktha Menon, Rao Ramesh, Samuthirakani, Murali Sharma, Pammi Sai and Narra Srinivas essay key roles in the film that had music by S Thaman and cinematography by Ravi K Chandran. Navin Nooli has edited Bheemla Nayak with AS Prakash handling art direction. Disney+ Hotstar has grabbed the post-theatrical streaming rights of the blockbuster.
