Mark the date! Director Amal Neerad and Mammootty’s much-awaited Bheeshma Parvam is all set to hit theatres in February 2022. The movie will release just two weeks after Mohanlal’s ‘mass’ entertainer Aaraattu hits cinema halls, making it an action-packed month for Mollywood fans.
Amal Neerad took to his social media page to announce the release date of the gangster thriller, which will have him team up with Mammootty for the first time after their blockbuster Big B. The duo was set to work on its sequel Bilal last year but due to the pandemic, decided to work on Bheeshma Parvam instead.
The movie, which was shot entirely in Kochi, is a period thriller set in the mid 80s and reportedly revolves around what happens in and around a place. Mammootty has donned a ‘mass’ getup for his character in the movie, which also has Soubin Shahir, Sudev Nair, Lena, Dileesh Pothan, Shine Tom Chacko, Nedumudi Venu, Nadiya Moidu and Anasuya Bharadwaj.
Bheeshma Parvam will hit theatres on February 24, 2022, just a fortnight after Mohanlal’s Aaraattu. While Mohanlal has already had a theatrical release – Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham – after the second lockdown, the Amal Neerad movie could mark the megastar’s first theatrical release in 2022. However, it’s also possible that the star’s Puzhu, which is directed by debutante Ratheena Sharshad, could hit theatres ahead of Bheeshma Parvam’s release.
Mammootty, meanwhile, has also wrapped up shooting for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, which reportedly has him playing the role of a thief. The actor is currently shooting for the fifth film in the CBI Sethurama Iyer franchise and will next complete Lijo’s segment in the Netflix anthology, based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories.
Considering the hype of Bheeshma Parvam, it’s safe to say that fans will be awaiting a blockbuster that is as stylish as Big B, which was a game-changer when it released 15 years ago.
