It comes as a huge surprise in this day and age when filmmaker and superstars who have collaborated for superhits would wait for over a decade and half to join hands again. That’s exactly what has happened with Mammootty and Amal Neerad, who worked together for the first time in Big B that went on to be superhit and gained a cult following since its release in 2007.

The duo now is gearing up for the release of this second film together – Bheeshma Parvam, which is gearing up to hit theatres on March 3. The movie, which has an ensemble cast, has Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Lena, Nadiya Moidu, Veena Nandakumar, Shine Tom Chacko, Jinu Joseph, Farhaan Faasil, Shebin Benson, KPAC Lalitha, Sudev Nair, Nedumudi Venu and Dileesh Pothan in pivotal roles.

What is Bheeshma Parvam about?

The movie is set in 1986 and revolves around its protagonist named Michael, played by Mammootty. Scripted by Amal and Devadath Shaji, the film has references from the Mahabharat as well as The Godfather, as admitted by the cast including Mammootty in its recent promotion.

The megastar also said that the film revolves around families with Michael being a patriarch. Farhaan Faasil and Shine Tom Chacko play sons of Michael’s elder brother while Jinu Joseph essays the role of Michael’s younger brother. According to rumours, Michael, a former gangster based in Kochi, is forced to revisit his past after earlier foes return to threaten his family.

What makes Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam special?

The highlight that has Mammootty fans excited is that the megastar has teamed up with Amal Neerad again. The filmmaker had earlier presented the actor in a ‘mass’ avatar through Big B, which also changed the visual grammar of Malayalam cinema after its release.

The teaser and trailer of Bheeshma Parvam too prove that the film will feature aesthetically rich shots and punch dialogues that are sure to please the actor’s fans. Mammootty has also sported long hair and beard for his stylish look in the movie.

While it marks the first time he has collaborated with Nadiya Moidu in 11 years, it was among the last films of KPAC Lalitha and Nedumudi Venu, who had passed away in last month and last year, respectively.

When and where to watch Bheeshma Parvam?

Bheeshma Parvam is set to release in theatres worldwide on March 3. The movie is also the actor’s first theatrical release this year and much to cheer of the fans and the industry, it will be screened at 100% theatre occupancy. The movie is also the biggest Mammootty release since Madhuraraja in 2019. The film is expected to drop on a streaming platform 41 days after its theatrical release.
