Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal would attest that Nedumudi Venu has played a pivotal role in their careers that have spanned decades. Over the course of the past four decades, Mollywood’s superstars have shared screen space with the prolific actor, who passed away on Monday at the age of 73, in hundreds of movies together.
For fans of Malayalam cinema, the combination of Nedumudi Venu and Mohanlal in movies such as Bharatham, Chithram and His Highness Abdulla, and the team-up of Mammootty and Venu in films such as Patheyam, Megham and Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kaalathu have never failed to create magic on screen. Even after his demise, Venu will be seen lighting up the screen with the superstars in four hugely-anticipated movies, for the final time. These are the upcoming movies he was part of.
Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham
Nedumudi Venu plays the role of Samoothiri in Priyadarshan’s magnum opus, which has Mohanlal as his character’s key friend-turned-foe Kunjali Marakkar IV. The movie is expected to be a theatrical release.
Aaraattu
Venu will reportedly be seen playing the role of Mohanlal’s character’s father in the movie, directed by B Unnikrishnan. The film also has Kalamandalam Gopi, who essays the father of Venu’s character in the movie.
Bheeshmaparvam
Mammootty recently confirmed that Venu was also part of Amal Neerad’s directorial Bheeshmaparvam, which is a gangster thriller that completed shooting last month. Venu’s role is still kept under wraps.
Puzhu
Venu was part of Ratheena Sharshad’s Puzhu, which again has Mammootty as the lead actor. The megastar in a poignant social media post had also said that he had worked with the actor two weeks before his demise for the movie. It’s not confirmed if Venu had completed the portions for this film.
