Bholaa Shankar, the Telugu remake of Vedalam, directed by Meher Ramesh, is Chiranjeevi’s second big release of the year after the successful Waltair Veerayya. Amidst much criticism for the star’s decision to take up a remake, the film released in theatres today. Keerthy Suresh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sushanth essayed other important roles in the action entertainer produced by Anil Sunkara.

Poor reviews

Right from the early premieres to the morning shows, Bholaa Shankar received disappointing reports from fans, audiences and critics alike. The reviews are particularly critical of director Meher Ramesh for his poor taste in comedy, inability to handle emotions and keep the audiences engaged. Some have even compared the film to Acharya, one of Chiranjeevi’s biggest duds in 2022.

In addition, Chiranjeevi wasn’t spared for his poor choice of directors and the decision to work on a remake of a film that released 8 years ago. Only select audiences have had kind words to say about the action entertainer, praising the star’s looks, style and grace. The segment where the team has recreated the iconic Kushi sequence with Chiranjeevi, Sreemukhi hasn’t also been received well.

While the screenplay has been altered to a major extent to please Chiranjeevi’s fans, it appears that it hasn’t worked in favour of the film. Prior to the release, the trailer, teaser, music and the promos didn’t quite resonate with film buffs either, who still pinned their hopes on Meher Ramesh, given he’s a fan of Chiranjeevi. Mahati Swara Sagar composed the songs, background score for Bholaa Shankar.

Top-notch crew

Top-notch technicians worked on the film including editor Marthand K Venkatesh, cinematographer Dudley, production designer AS Prakash. Tarun Arora, Vennela Kishore, Sri Mukhi, Murali Sharma, Getup Srinu, Shawar Ali, Sitara, Kaasi Viswanadh, Hyper Aadi, Viva Harsha, Brahmaji, Uttej, Satya, Thagubothu Ramesh, Venu, Bithiri Sathi form the supporting cast.
