Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 hit theatres last week and has been a big success at the box office. The latest news about the movie is that it could possibly become a franchise, along with Shahid Kapoor’s 2019 movie, Kabir Singh.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, producers Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani were asked which of their movies could be made into a franchise. “I think our film Kabir Singh can definitely be spun into a franchise. It’s an iconic character and can be taken into a second part,” Kumar told the portal.

Agreeing with Kumar, Khetani said that the character from Kabir Singh is popular with the fans and so they should think of a story.

Kabir Singh, which was the remake of Sandeep Reddy Vanga Telugu movie Arjun Reddy, received mixed reactions with criticism about the way it glorified toxic relationships and misogyny. The movie, however, was a box office success.

The producers were then asked about whether a third part for Bhool Bhulaiyaa was in the cards, to which they replied, “We are definitely taking the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise forward. There is enough scope in the premise and we will announce more details at the right time.”

The first instalment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa came out in 2007, which was the remake of the cult classic Malayalam movie, Manichitrathazhu. Helmed by Priyadarshan, the remake starred Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in the lead.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which is directed by Anees Bazmee, was one of the most-anticipated movies of the year. With Kartik Aaryan in the lead, the movie also stars Kiara Advani, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has reportedly already minted Rs. 92.05 crore at the box office, becoming a superhit. The horror-comedy is currently available in theatres near you.
