Bhoomi Shetty opens up on her latest Kannada release Ikkat

Esham and Haseen Khan directorial Ikkat, that released on Amazon Prime Video today, marks the digital debut of its lead actress Bhoomi Shetty. The lockdown comedy has her pairing up alongside comedy actor Nagabhushana. The film is about a newly married couple whose marriage is on the rocks. The two have no choice but to tolerate each other when a lockdown is announced countrywide owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The actress, like every one, recalls spending her lockdown time at home and was asked to audition for the role in the film shortly. Impressed by the script, she sent her audition video, after which she headed to Bengaluru to meet the film team and the rest was merely a formality."My joy knew no bounds when I joined team Ikkat. I didn't expect to sign my first film during the lockdown and it was a wonderful experience working with Nagabhushana. I remember enjoying watching his film French Biryani and here I was acting alongside him in a film. I couldn't have asked for more," she says. 

Bhoomi plays the role of Jahnvi in the film, a village belle who craves to live her life 'queen-size' in a city. She doesn't share a great rapport with her husband Vasu though she means well for him. "We improvised the characters during the shoot and the entire team was extremely supportive. We were this small team that bonded like a well-knit unit and we are more like a family to now," she signs off. Ikkat is presented by Kudi Yedamaithe, U Turn filmmaker Pawan Kumar.
