After gaining a lot of buzz on social media, Netflix's regal rom-com series, The Royals, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter, was finally released on May 9. The series has been getting mixed responses from both critics and fans. Amid this, Bhumi opened up about portraying an ambitious CEO role in The Royals.
In an interview with Zoom, Bhumi Pednekar talked about what she liked about her character, Sophia, in The Royals. She said that Sophia is completely self-made and fierce. "She has ambition. She has drive. Yet she's nurturing. Yet she hasn't completely killed that part inside her that wants her to want love. She's scared of it because she feels like it'll come in the way of her ambition and her life, just like me. I think that's one of my biggest, um, fears in life is that if I get distracted from my profession, I might lose it."

Bhumi also said, "People are extremely scared of a woman that owns up to her desires and her ambition and what she wants out of life."
She thinks a lot of that fearlessness also comes from the life that she has lived, the upbringing that she has had, and also, very early on in life, she had to just take care of herself, and she called it a beautiful thing.
Speaking to Filmfare, The Royals actress Lisa Mishra jokingly said that only thing left for Ishaan Khatter’s character was “launching out of a helicopter," to which Khatter replied, “I would do that in Season 2."
Meanwhile, the series has been receiving mixed reviews. Fans shared that the plot and the characterizations were average. One fan commented, "theroyalsnetflix is an average show ..can watch it once !! 1st time I’m watching #IshaanKhatter he is definitely best part of the show along with the actors who played his siblings !! Love their bond and banter."
Another fan said, "Had a lot of expectations but the ending and writing ruined it all , watched only bcs of the royal aesthetics bcs the show has nothing to give tbh .. chemistry worked but at what cost ??"
Meanwhile, The Royals features an ensemble cast including veteran actress Zeenat Aman, Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Sakshi Tanwar, Milind Soman, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra, and Luke Kenny.
