Bhumi Pednekar, who was last seen in Badhaai Do, is excited about her next film, Afwaah, in which she will continue to defy preconceptions. While the oddball thriller piqued her interest, it was the chance to collaborate with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sudhir Mishra that sealed the deal.

Talking about the same, Pednekar told Mid-Day that she has been waiting for a chance to work with Nawaz for a long time. The actor called him a cinematic legend and one of the country's top actors. While working with Sudhir has always been on her bucket list, Pednekar added that she is going to learn so much from the filmmaker. The actor believes he is the director of an actor's dreams.

Afwaah, which will be shot in the summer in Alwar, Rajasthan, has a social message, which Pednekar has always emphasised. A source told the tabloid that this is possibly one of Pednekar's most difficult and impactful roles. It's a multi-layered figure who progressively comes to life as the screenplay progresses.

Pednekar, who is now working on The Lady Killer with Arjun Kapoor, Anubhav Sinha's Bheed alongside Rajkummar Rao, Shashank Khaitan's Govinda Aala Re, co-starring Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani, and Raksha Bandhan with Akshay Kumar, states that she chooses characters who reflect her personality.

The actor shared that she finds her characters inspirational because they are strong women who stand up for themselves. She wants to defy any and all stereotypes. Cinema is a strong medium that, when used correctly, can be inspiring, and that's the kind of legacy she would like to leave.

Badhaai Do, her latest outing with Rao, is currently streaming on Netflix after a successful theatrical run for over a month. The film is a queer dramedy directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni.
