In an interview with PTI, Bhumi Pednekar opened up about her debut series, The Royals. The series is filled with romance, comedy, and drama, as per the official synopsis. Speaking about it, the actress said that it is a mix of modern-day Bridgerton and Schitt’s Creek.

She added, "It is (like) a modern-day Bridgerton because of the setting and the world that’s been created, but definitely a bit of Schitt’s Creek because there’s the royal family and the dysfunctionality and everything that happens with them."

Bhumi further mentioned that she grew up reading Mills & Boon (romance novels), and she is a big fan of them. "This (The Royals) is a very classic boy-girl romance. It’s just that there’s no damsel-in-distress. It’s refreshing," she added.

Meanwhile, Bridgerton is a popular British drama, set in the Regency era of the 19th century. On the other hand, Schitt’s Creek is a Canadian drama. It follows the formerly wealthy Rose family. Both series are streaming on Netflix.
