Bhumi Pednekar has been chosen to be the recipient of this award for her impressive contribution in Bollywood

After having impressed everyone with her acting prowess in the Yash Raj Films’ breezy romantic film ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, Bhumi Pednekar went onto do films in Bollywood like ‘Badhai Do’, ‘Bheed’, ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’, ‘Bala’ and others. These films laid the rock-solid foundation of name, fame and success that she is enjoying today. In lieu of her impressive contribution in Bollywood, Bhumi Pednekar will be honoured with the ‘Disruptor Award’ at the upcoming ‘Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2023’. The Disruptor Award will be presented to Bhumi Pednekar by a dignitary from the Victorian government, highlighting the collaborative effort between the festival and the government in promoting impactful work in the entertainment industry.
In her career span, she has definitely etched a strong position for herself as a powerhouse performer working on films with strong subjects that matter. Besides all this, the said recognition will also be for her relentless commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainability. As a staunch climate warrior, she has used her wide reach and power as an actor to amplify the importance of confronting climate change and its reality that we confront today. The award has been scheduled to be presented to Bhumi Pednekar on the festival's opening day (11th August). And, as part of the recognition, Bhumi Pednekar will also be engaging in a special ‘fireside chat’ with a live audience where she will be speaking on wide range of topics like sustainability etc…, thus, further cementing her role as a catalyst for change.
Speaking of this honour, Bhumi Pednekar, in a media statement, said, “I am so grateful for having been awarded as the Disruptor of the year by IFFM. This recognition means a lot to me. Through my work, through the films and roles I take up, the causes that I support and stand up for and for everything I do to champion climate conservation, this is exactly what I strive for - I strive to live a life of impact”.
