Vijay Antony, who was familiar to Telugu audiences with films like Nakili, Dr Salim, rose to prominence with the surprise hit in 2016, Bichagadu. While the first part was directed by Sasi and collected big in the Telugu states, he decided to wield the megaphone himself for Bichagadu 2, for which he’s also the writer and the music director. Kavya Thapar played the female lead in the sequel that hit theatres today.
While the actor hasn’t tasted success after Bichagadu in Telugu cinema, he has enjoyed decent popularity among crowds in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Thanks to that goodwill, audiences have shown interest in Bichagadu 2 and the film is all set to open well at the box office in Telugu states. Meanwhile, the ‘Star’ group has acquired both the digital and the television rights of the drama in both Tamil and Telugu.
Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the post-theatrical digital rights of Bichagadu 2 and is expected to premiere the film in the second half of June. The film will have its satellite premiere on Star Maa in a few months. Radha Ravi, Y G Mahendran, Mansoor Ali Khan, Hareesh Peradi, John Vijay, Dev Gill and Yogi Babu played other important roles in the action drama.
The story commences when a group of men plot the downfall of a popular entrepreneur Vijay Gurumurthy and rope in a lookalike, a former beggar Sathya in his place to run a company as per their demands. Sathya, who loses his parents early in life, is in search of his sister, who goes missing in childhood. Will Sathya find his sister? How will Sathya handle handle his new responsibility?
Vijay Antony, K Palani and Paul Antony wrote the story of the film. Produced by Fatima Vijay Antony (wife of Vijay Antony), Bichagadu 2’s crew comprises cinematographer Om Narayan, art director Arusamy, sound Designer S Vijay Rathinam, to name a few.
