Flicks such as Gangubai Kahthiawadi and Badhaai Do featured Chum Darang, who last appeared on Salman Khan's Bigg Boss 18, when she advanced to the final round of the competition. Amid her sudden fame, the actor recently made an appearance on Bharti Singh's podcast, where she discussed her ethnicity, the challenges she faced as an actor, and her collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Darang went so far as to say that no matter how many times she considered leaving the field, new opportunities for employment always seemed to pop up.

Chum Darang's struggles due to ethnicity and financial challenges

According to the actor, who expressed her frustration with the lack of opportunities she had as a result of her ethnicity, she contemplated leaving the industry on many occasions because of the difficulty of her limited parts. Mumbai is a tough place to live because of how costly everything is and how difficult it is to make ends meet if one is unemployed. Things are looking up now for her. Nothing was occurring when she joined the industry in 2018; thus, she departed in 2019. Darang was on her way home when Gangubai Kathiawadi took place, followed by the lockdown, and just as she was about to get my belongings, she was cast in Badhaai Do.

Even though Darang is relishing in her newfound fame following Bigg Boss, she remains steadfast in her belief that humility is the key to success. Memories of her time working with Bhansali on Gangubai Kathiawadi come flooding back to her, who reminisces that she took her grandmother to Delhi for a knee treatment; they were staying with her brother, who was studying then. Her 80-plus-year-old grandma filmed her Gangubai Kathiawadi audition, and nobody was home. The call came from Bhansali's office, and they were pleased with the audition; Darang took it as a hoax. Sometimes calls like these are bogus, so she informed her best friend about it. Ignore it, she said; however, the call was later determined to be authentic. Her heart raced since it was such a terrifying ordeal. The actor was one of ten girls that shared a brothel with Alia Bhatt's character, but she didn't have a single sentence in the film.

Working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Darang added that one is always worried that Bhansali will bring up something because his work is so impeccable. Even down to the colour scheme, he had complete control over the costumes provided by the costume designers. Because the filmmaker's work is flawless, it also takes a long time to finish. He puts in a lot of heart and soul into his work; she recalled an incident where he became irate because the crew had forgotten a backdrop element during a sequence.

On Bigg Boss 18, Darang fell in love with Karanveer Mehra. She friend-zoned him after they had already admitted their affections for each other on the show. The actor continued to insist that Mehra and she are excellent friends in response to Singh's enquiries over their relationship.

Thoughts on marriage and future plans

Darang wants to get married and have kids also; she doesn't want to be very old when her baby is born, before discussing her intentions to tie the knot. But right now she is confused about which guy—the one her parents pick or the one she ends up marrying—will be her husband.

Speaking of work, the actor is now completing the projects she started but abandoned because of Bigg Boss. At the appropriate moment, she will make an official announcement about them.
