The ninth season of Bigg Boss Kannada is in its final stretch, with less than four weeks to go for the grand finale. This season has a mix of contestants including those from earlier seasons, the four OTT season winners and some newbies. Prior to the start of Season 9, Bigg Boss Kannada had its first-ever OTT season spanning six weeks, the top four contestants of which were given direct entry into the TV show. Roopesh Shetty, Rakesh Adiga, Saanya Iyer and Aryavardhan headed straight back into the house after the OTT season.

They were then joined by Anupama Gowda, Deepika Das, Prashant Sambargi, Divya Uruduga and Arun Sagar, all contestants from previous seasons as the praveenaru, while the Naveenaru included names like Aishwarya Pissay, Mayuri Kyatari, Darsh Chandrappa, Nawaz, Neha Gowda, Vinod Gobargala, Kavyashree Gowda, Amulya Gowda and Rupesh Rajanna.

Since the show began, there has been a debate about the praveenaru and the OTT season winners having an upper hand over the naveenaru, having been in the Bigg Boss house before. All the praveenaru contestants were among the most popular ones in the seasons that they participated in earlier. While the OTT season contestant and praveenaru knew how to ‘work’ the house, the naveenaru barely had time to get used to being on the show. Then, when the eliminations began, the first five weeks saw only newbies being shown the door. Saanya Iyer was the first from the OTT season to be sent home, a decision which was also highly debated, especially after praveenaru contestant Deepika Das was eliminated and then brought right back as a wild card entry.

At present, all five praveenaru and three of the four OTT seasons contestants are still in the house, while the newbies have been eliminated one by one, Kavyashree Gowda being the latest. That leaves Rupesh Rajanna and Amulya Gowda as the last two from the naveenaru set. The buzz on social media indicates that one of them will survive till finale weekend, but the odds are stacked heavily in favour of a winner from the praveenaru gang or OTT season.
