Bigg Boss Kannada OTT Day 1: Tear-jerking moments, new friendships, and celebrations - the opening day saw it all

The much-anticipated OTT edition of Bigg Boss Kannada was kicked off on August 6 amid much fanfare and glitter. Ahead of the grand launch, Kiccha Sudeep was joined by Vasuki Vaibhav as the duo took the digital audience on a fun little tour of the new house – Vasuki, a former contestant himself, also presented his catchy Bigg Boss OTT theme song to the audience.

This was followed by a sequential introduction of all the 16 guests with the concept of ‘digital superstars’ kept in mind. From Aryavardhan Guruji, the IPL predictor, to Roadies contestants Jashwanth Bopanna and Nandu, the list of contestants is as eclectic as it gets. A Welcome like No Other!

The opening day saw the contestants be welcomed by Bigg Boss’ iconic booming voice before they were asked to participate in their first-ever contest of this season. The same contest required them collectively to eat as many cakes as possible, with each finished cake allowing two contestants to find a space in the bedroom. The contestants would only manage to finish eating 4 cakes which meant that 8 of the 16 found the comfort of a bed while the rest had to resort to the drawing room floor.

The democratic process of choosing those 8 contestants almost triggered the very first argument of the Bigg Boss OTT season but thanks to the prudence of some that it was ultimately avoided.

The very first argument, though, took place between Aryavardhan Guruji and others during the traditional ‘introduction’ session. The infamous Guruji would accuse Lokesh (of Comedy Khiladigalu fame) of stealing the audience’s sympathy when the latter spoke of his dire situation while growing up. The rest of the contestants would, however, step in for Lokesh’s support.

A Day Brimming with Emotions!

As the day went by, the Bigg Boss voice did eventually beckon everyone to participate in a session called ‘Naanu Yaaru?’ (Who am I?) to allow some of the contestants speak their hearts out about some of the most challenging and watershed moments of their respective lives. From Rakesh Adiga speaking of his kleptomaniacal tendencies to Uday Surya sharing the difficult times he endured while his parents underwent extreme health crisis, tears flowed down many faces in the session.

Before this, internet sensation and Kannada content creator Sonu Srinivas Gowda divulged her tough times wherein she was blackmailed by a disgruntled ex-boyfriend who broke her trust by leaking an extremely sensitive video of theirs.

In short, the opening day witnessed a typical rollercoaster ride for all the contestants who found themselves warming up to the Bigg Boss culture, the idea of spending a considerable amount of time with strangers, and also began to forge friendships during the course.
