Bigg Boss Kannada OTT Season 2 to start in July?

Less than a year ago in early August, Kannada audiences were treated to the first-ever Bigg Boss Kannada OTT season, which was telecast 24/7 on Voot Select. With 16 contestants from different walks of life, this mini season, which spanned only 6 weeks (42 days), saw the top four contestants getting a direct shoo-in to the 100-day TV season, Bigg Boss Kannada Season 9. Roopesh Shetty, Rakesh Adiga, Aryavardhan and Saanya Iyer had made the cut, with Roopesh being declared the winner of the OTT season, as well as the TV season.

According to the latest buzz, the showrunners are busy making preparations to announce Bigg Boss Kannada OTT Season 2. With the Hindi show hosted by Salman Khan currently on, the Kannada version is expected to kick off by the time the other ends. While Bigg Boss Kannada OTT Season 1 had begun on August 6, we are now hearing that Jio Studios will look at kickstarting the second season as early as the second or third week of July. Top contestants will make their way to the TV season then, like last year.

The question that remains, though, is if showrunner Parameshwar Gundkal, will also follow the same template of splitting the contestants into two sections of ‘naveenaru’ and ‘praveenaru’, with newbies pitted against former contestants of the show. This was widely seen as unfair to the newbies, as the praveenaru consisted not only the four who had just been voted most popular on the OTT season, but also contestants like Arun Sagar, Prashant Sambargi, Deepika Das, Anupama Gowda, Divya Uruduga, all of who had done well in their respective seasons and had strong fan followings. In fact, in the first few weeks, the contestants who were voted out were all from the newbie gang.

Kiccha Sudeep, who has been hosting the show since the start, will resume his duties, but with the actor now busy with a film, the start date of Bigg Boss Kannada OTT Season 2 is expected to be when he is on a schedule break.
