Malayalis got their own version of the popular reality show Bigg Boss way back in 2018. Superstar Mohanlal plays the host of Bigg Boss Malayalam, which has also seen its share of controversies and dramas surrounding the contestants. The big attraction, of course, is the prize money that the winner takes home. As we gear up for the Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 (live streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium), let’s dial back the clock and check how much each winner had pocketed in the previous seasons.
Bigg Boss Malayalam prize money from Season 1 to Season 6
BBM Season 1 winner Sabumon - Flat worth Rs 1 crore
The first season of Bigg Boss Malayalam in 2018 saw 18 contestants who remained in the house in Mumbai for 14 weeks. Actor Sabumon emerged as the winner, and he was awarded a flat worth Rs 1 crore. Actor-influencer Pearle Maaney was the runner up.
The second season was held in 2020 but had to be cancelled after the pandemic hit in March, and thus, there were no winners.
BBM Season 3 winner - Manikuttan - Flat worth Rs 75 lakh
The Bigg Boss Malayalam third season was held in Chennai in 2021, and actor Manikuttan emerged as the winner and he was also awarded a flat worth Rs 75 lakh. Sai Vishnu was the runner-up.
BBM Season 4 winner - Dilsha Prasannan - Rs 50 lakh
For the fourth season, the show returned to Mumbai with actress Dilsha Prasannan emerging victorious and she pocketed the cash prize of Rs 50 lakh. Muhammad Diligent Blesslee came second for this season in 2022.
BBM Season 5 winner - Akhil Marar - Rs 50 lakh
The fifth season of Bigg Bosss Malayalam in 2023 saw film director Akhil Marar taking home Rs 50 lakh. Actress Reneesha Rahiman had to settle for the runner-up spot.
BBM Season 6 winner - Jinto Bodycraft - Rs 50 lakh
For the sixth season, Bigg Boss returned to Chennai, with fitness trainer Jinto Bodycraft receiving Rs 50 lakh as cash prize. Arjun Syam Gopan came in second after an intense contest.
Notably, the last three winners were given the same prize money of Rs 50 lakh with the first two winners being awarded flats.
The Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 begins on August 3, 2025, and will see Mohanlal back as the host. The show will air on Asianet with live streaming on JioHotstar, which will also be available on OTTplay Premium. Speculations about the probable list of contestants are already doing the rounds.
