The date is set and the venue is locked! Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be back to reprise his role as the host of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5, which is set to go live from the end of the month.
As per the latest updates, the team behind the show is working overtime to ensure that the new Bigg Boss House renovations are done in time and the stage is set for the contestants to vie with each other for a period of 100 days in the anticipated edition of the reality show.
OTTplay had earlier informed that this year’s Bigg Boss House will also be set in Mumbai and now according to reports, the team is planning to use the same sets used for last year’s Bigg Boss Marathi with changes, of course, for the Malayalam edition. Mohanlal had earlier this month, flown down from Rajasthan to shoot the promotional materials for the show, which have the tagline – The Battle of Originals. Apart from social media influencers, TV actors and personalities from other fields of work, this edition of the show will also pick a contestant from the audience through a contest.
Compared to other language editions of Bigg Boss, the Malayalam version has been plagued with troubles with the second edition being discontinued due to the pandemic and the sets of the first edition being moved from Chennai to Mumbai due to the floods in Tamil Nadu. As per reports, the latest version will have 22 contestants in total.
Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5 is set to kick off on March 26 on Asianet and can be live streamed 24/7 on Disney+ Hotstar. Mohanlal is expected to fly in from Rajasthan for the first few weeks from the sets of his film Malaikottai Vaaliban to film his portions for the reality show. Incidentally, Mohanlal is also set to shoot a few portions of Jeethu Joseph’s Ram abroad.
