Another season of Bigg Boss OTT premiered on June 18 this year, and the second season is hosted by none other than Salman Khan himself. The list of contestants on the show includes Falaq Naazz, Cyrus Broacha, Bebika Dhurve, Akanksha Puri, Aaliya Siddiqui and Pooja Bhatt among others. The show has already started with a banger, gaining attention of netizens after the eviction of social media star Puneet Superstar on day one.

On day two, the contestants started making connections by sharing anecdotes from their personal lives with each other. One such conversation between Pooja and Cyrus revealed the former’s struggle with alcoholism at the age of 44.

During the conversation, Pooja revealed that she had a drinking problem and after acknowledging her addiction she decided to quit. She also spoke about the bias that women feel while talking about their addiction openly in society. “Society gives a license to men and thus they can openly speak about being addicted and recovering from alcoholism. However, women don’t openly drink and so they don’t openly recover. I used to drink openly so when I thought of recovering from alcoholism, I realised that why should I recover in the closet?” she elaborated.

The Bombay Begum actress also revealed that at the age of 44 people would call her an alcoholic, but then she would tell them that she is a recovering alcoholic. The actor had earlier opened about her alcoholic addiction during an interview with Mumbai Mirror. She said, “I was born to a man who has never done anything in half-measure, and I inherited that. So, when I drank, I drank copiously. Your appetite increases even as the alcohol does terrible things to your body, clutters your mind and colours your judgement of the people you’re hanging out with.”

The season of Bigg Boss OTT is available to stream on JioCinema and Voot Select with 13 contestants locked inside the house for six weeks. The newest addition to the season is the presence of BB Currency which will help contestants in the show.
