Salman Khan will not be returning to host the controversial reality show Bigg Boss, but the show will return for a third season on OTT streaming. The Hindustan Times reports that the superstar has declined to host the forthcoming season on JioCinema because of his work commitments. Salman would not be hosting Bigg Boss OTT Season 3, as per an insider. Anil Kapoor, on the other hand, will be taking over as host for Season 3.
Film commitments prioritised by Salman Khan
A source told the leading portal that preparations for Salman's next film, Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, are his top priority right now. According to the source, that is one of the reasons he declined to host Bigg Boss OTT season 3.
According to the insider, Salman left Bigg Boss OTT to start filming Sikandar in June. Since the superstar is also famous for hosting the reality show on TV, he was worried that the audience would see it as repetitive, on top of his film obligation.
Anil Kapoor's hosting style and promo video
Another insider confirmed the development, revealing that Anil will be hosting the show this time, bringing his own quirks and trademark wit to the set. Actually, the creators hinted at the alteration in a promotional video. Jio Cinema's official Instagram account shared a minute-long announcement promo on Wednesday, confirming the premiere of Bigg Boss OTT 3 in June. The announcer concludes the promo with the phrase 'jhakaas,' commonly associated with Anil.
According to the source, Anil is thrilled to be taking over as host and bringing his unique style to the show. The host shift is in line with the current pattern of having a different host each season.
Bigg Boss OTT's history
The successful Indian reality competition series Bigg Boss has spawned a new series, Bigg Boss OTT. The first season, which Karan Johar hosted, was streamed via Voot. Salman took over the hosting duties of Bigg Boss OTT 2 from Karan, which premiered on JioCinema last year.
The inaugural season debuted in 2021, and Divya Agarwal emerged as the winner. Season two of the reality show premieres in 2023. Elvish Yadav, the influenter, emerged as the winner, with Abhishek Malhan coming in second.
Bigg Boss OTT 3's precise launch date is yet unknown.
