Bigg Boss Kannada is getting its first OTT-only season. The mini season of 45-day duration only will kickstart on August 6 at 7 pm on Voot Select. Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep, who has served as host of the show from the first season, will continue in this capacity. The promo of the new OTT season has Sudeep making a grand red-carpet entry into the house, and calling it Season 1, as against Season 9, as this is the first time that the reality show will only be available on Voot Select with 24*7 live coverage of the contestants. Normally, even though the show is taped 24*7, select portions are edited into an hour-long episode that would get a prime-time telecast on Colors Kannada. In that sense, this mini season of Bigg Boss Kannada is new and, hence, deserving to be called Season 1.
The promo, however, provides no information about the contestants of the mini season. Vinay Kumar, Naveen Krishna, Asha Bhatt, Ravi Srivastava, Tarun Chandra, Namratha Gowda, Dileep Raj, Prema, Bhumika Basavaraj, Rekha Vedavyas, Mimicry Gopi, and Chandan Sharma are the rumoured contestants, which is yet to be confirmed. It is also unclear if they will be on the mini season or Season 9. There is a buzz that the mini season may feature social media influencers as contestants.
Meanwhile, the actual season 9 of Bigg Boss Kannada is expected to kick off shortly after the mini season, with the top 5 contestants spilling over into the next show too. Season 9 will have its normal 100-day run, with Sudeep making his appearance for the weekend episodes.
Bigg Boss Kannada will be shot at the house in Innovative Film City, Bidadi. Earlier, contestants would be flown to the set in Lonavala, where the Hindi version of the show is also shot with Salman Khan as host.
