Former Bigg Boss Tamil contestant and video jockey Kathirravan is all set to make his film debut with Koodu. The film is helmed by debutant Joyal Vijay and the video jockey has joined the star cast. Sharing his excitement about being part of the venture, Kathirravan took to his social media handle, and wrote, "With all ur blessings, luv n support here's my first happy to be onboard With luv, #kathirravank Stay tuned fr more updates (sic)."

The plot is based on the true story of Pothakudi village in Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu, who lived without electricity for over 35 days to save a sparrow and its eggs. The sparrow had laid its eggs on the EB main switchboard in the village.

The villagers, who decided to protect the endangered bird, went without street lights and lived in darkness until the eggs hatched and the young ones flew away. Since the streetlights were connected to the board, the villagers disconnected the line to help the sparrow. The noble gesture by the villagers had won many hearts.

The film is bankrolled by M Ganesh and Kannan P of Sky Moon Entertainment and A Entertainment. David Williams has penned the script. The film is set to release in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada Malayalam and Hindi. The other details about the cast and crew are yet to be officially announced.

Kathirravan shot to fame after he made an appearance in the last edition of Bigg Boss Tamil. Kathirravan was one of the non-controversial contestants in the house , who was lauded for being calm and composed amid all the turmoil. Towards the latter half of the show, Kathirravan walked away with the Rs 3 lakh cash prize. Though his fellow contestants asked him to reconsider his decision, Kathirravan walked away in his usual calm demeanour.
